Tomorrows...
Toms Shoes. Did you know they stand for Tomorrows? As in, have a better tomorrow, a brighter tomorrow. For everyone.
Honestly, I'm obsessed. I want to make this short and sweet, because I'm not entirely sure that I want to attach a life lesson to this blog, or rant and rave about some aspect of my life that disappoints me or needs improving. I just want the world to know, all though most do, about the great company of Toms Shoes.
If you goes to the Toms website, not only will you see a bright array of adorable shoes, but you'll see how normal people like you wear them, their 'One for One' logo, and you'll see what they stand for.
It all happened in 2006 when a kind hearted American traveller, Blake Mycoskie, paid a visit to Argentina and made friends with the local shoeless kids. Mycoskie wanted the kids feet to no longer be bare, so he started Toms, and alas, we have the cute shoes that so many teenagers I know, including myself, are absolutely obsessed with. See, how it works is, you buy a pair, then they give a pair to a kid that needs shoes somewhere.
Although they are pricey, they are probably the best shoes I've ever worn, and since they give a pair, there's no guilt in spending extra cash. They come in various sizes and styles. Even better, being that I am an animal rights advocate, I am tremendously proud of the company for considering everyone and making vegan Toms. (The normal Toms have suede soles.)
So yes, I'm making a blog about shoes. But it's not just the shoes, it's the company, and what it stands for. It's why I'd be willing, as a teenager lacking in spending money, to give out a little bit more cash for shoes. I wish that there were more people out there with big hearts, starting more companies that stand for something good. That make the world a better place. If you've got a good idea, act on it. Don't stand back, stand up, take a risk. Those who risk none, reap no benefits. Those who do, could change the world. Even if it's a little bit at a time.
Be a Toms supporter, go out there and get some great shoes, help a shoeless child's life improve just a little bit more.
