Lack of Job Creation threatens Western North Carolina
Lack of Job Creation threatens Western North Carolina
It’s no secret that the American economy has suffered a great financial downturn and is currently spinning itself irritably into what some critics will dispute as being the “Great Recession of the 2000’s.” This argument carries zero substance in my perspective. We are in a financial pool of quick sand and we are continuing to ignore that America is sinking faster and harder every day.
In 2008, our economy nearly flat lined, and four years later, the American heartbeat remains faint and weak. It is a fact that nine of the 11 recessions America has forgone lasted less than one year. The “Great Recession” we are witness to now, has been going on for over three and half years, and is considered by worldly economists to be the worst financial crisis since the 1930’s Great Depression.
The facts still indicate strongly that unemployment is increasing, or at best, treading waters. As a resident and business man in Western North Carolina, I know that job creation is the most severe issue facing Western North Carolinians. Unemployment in North Carolina has yet to shift under 10% since 2010 , and in some counties of the 11th Congressional District, such as Swain and Graham Counties, unemployment exists at a frightening 15.7% and 17.5% in Graham. This is unacceptable to me, and it should be unacceptable to you.
I would like to share with you that I have a plan, and it is a plan that I know works because it has provided my family and my employees a very comfortable way of living the American way. The plan is simple, and it begins with “manufacturing,” and bringing more of the manufacturing industry to Western North Carolina, and ideally, back to America.
I can break it down even further by stating that the only thing that creates “long term” job,s is business activity. Cutting taxes, reducing government regulation, cut spending and reducing the “big brother syndrome” that our legislators are seemingly obsessed with is all great and needed, however, IT DOES NOT CREATE JOBS. It has been proven over the lifespan of our great nation, and nations of the world that when there is a manufacturing BOOM, the economy takes off. Manufacturing IS the engine of job creation, in essence; it is the MOTOR of the world. Statistically, for every manufacturing job created, there are as many as four additional jobs generated. It touches everything from the Entertainment Industry, to Construction, Health Care, Recreation, Agriculture, and the list goes on.
Since campaigning for the Congressional Seat of the 11th District in North Carolina, I have met with every County Manager, asking exactly what the “jobs” situation and solutions are for each county individually. It has all been a resounding response that solidifies my position to go to Washington and bring back a proven successful business plan that will provide results, jobs and a means to allow our communities to establish good transportation, communication, education, recreation and the American quality of life. This will require a serious, successful and aggressive business plan and an experienced business man to bring our quality of life in WNC to the rest of the country and the world, to bring these companies and jobs here and to restore prosperity for our future generations.
My name is Vance Patterson and I approve this message. I am running for Congress in the 11th District of North Carolina. Please feel free to follow me in facebook at:
