Fundraiser with Jeanne Robertson, set for June 7th
Jeanne Robertson is coming to Lake Junaluska! The United Way of Haywood County and The Haywood Volunteer Center are announcing an evening with Just Jeanne to be held on June 7, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at Stuart Auditorium located at the Lake Junaluska Conference Center, Lake Junaluska, North Carolina.
Who is Jeanne Robertson, you say? Jeanne is North Carolina’s own 6 foot 2 inch tall former Miss North Carolina, who specializes in hilarious humor based on her own life experiences. Other speakers might be as witty as Jeanne. Some might even be as tall. (Barefooted with her hair "mashed" down, she's 6'2" in her size 11B stocking feet.) But nowhere will you find a speaker so adept at turning personal experiences into funny material that does more than elicit laughter. This Miss Congeniality winner in the Miss America Pageant, “Yearrrrrrrrrrrs ago,” quoting Jeanne, uses her down-home Southern drawl to leave her audiences laughing . . . and thinking about her message.
Jeanne's success as a humorous speaker has not gone unnoticed by her peers. She has been awarded every top honor in her profession. They like her back home too. The NC Press Association named Jeanne 2001 North Carolinian of the Year.
You will not be disappointed! Come join Jeanne for an evening of relaxing fun and laughter. Tickets go on sale March 1, 2012 at ticketfly.com. The cost is $30.00 for reserved seating. For more information please visit Jeanne’s website at www.jeannerobertson.com.
The proceeds from this event go to support United Way of Haywood County’s Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program and The Haywood Volunteer Center.
The Imagination Library Program is free to residents of Haywood County and provides children from birth to 5 years old with a book a month. It is hoped through this program that parents will read to their children giving them a boost toward a successful education. To date, there are 1,005 Haywood County children enrolled and 554 have graduated from the program.
The Haywood Volunteer Center is non-profit and self-supported through fundraising and donations. Its mission is to promote and enhance volunteer service to benefit the community by mobilizing people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems. The Center also provides community education, coordination of the Senior Firewood Assistance program and Medicare information to senior citizens through the Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Insurance.
