Monthly Healthy Tip:

In 2102 let's make mindful choices, avoiding the distractions and temptations that can lead us astray -- to sedentary and mindless habits.  Daily, we can use some quiet time to revise our thinking -- to FOCUS on the positive steps we wish to take.

Let's be HEARTY in 2012:

  • H - Heredity affects our capabilities; our habits affect us even more.
  • E - Eating should genuinely fuel and nourish the body.
  • A - Activities that keep the body in motion and strengthen it are essential.
  • R - Rest is needed to renew the body.
  • T - Time must be scheduled for family, exercise, work and recreation.
  • Y - You can decide to be healthy and positive in 2012, and forevermore.

 Local Challenge:

  • Before you start your day, for 30 seconds, be MINDFUL of what you will eat and how you will get your exercise for the day.
  • Enjoy this (so far) mild winter: get outside and hike your neighborhood; carry a recycle bag and beautify the area.
  • Strengthen your arms and body: be ready to shovel snow on the occasional real winter days to come.
