3rd Annual Pig Pickin'
American Legion, Waynesville
Oct 22, 2016
3:00 PM - 7:00 PM
The third annual Pig Pickin’ will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, at the American Legion in Waynesville.
This is a non-partisan event for the purpose of offering an informal setting for Haywood County voters to meet the candidates — this year being national, state and county elections — and for candidates to interact with members of the community.
The American Legion does not allow political speeches, so this will be an opportunity to have candidates talk with voters one-on-one and voters to ask candidates questions.
There is no admission charge and no charge for the food and drinks, which are donated. In previous years, there were well over 300 people.
Pigs were cooked by Chuck Rector, and “picked” by Eddie Cabe along with many other volunteers.
The following 2016 state and local candidates running on the Haywood County ballot have been invited:
Mark Meadows, Dan Forest, Michael LaPaglia, Jim Davis, Jane Hipps, Michele Presnell, Rhonda Schandevel, Mike Clampitt, Joe Queen, Brandon Rogers, Robin Black, Steve Brown, Robert Edmunds, Richard Dietz, Tessa Shelton Sellers, Chuck Francis, Craig Messer, Jim Harley Francis, Pam Martin, Kay Miller
Republican County Chair Ken Henson and Democrat County Chair Myrna Campbell along with representatives from the Libertarian Party have been invited.
There will be small tents from the Republican and Democrat parties providing candidate information.
