featuring Roy Futureman Wooten

Asheville, NC, July 28, 2013:   Inventor, musician, composer, and five-time Grammy Winner, Roy Futureman Wooten of Bela Fleck and the Flecktones will headline the fifth-annual Rock Academy benefit concert for Give to the Music at The Orange Peel on Saturday, August 24th. Give to the Music provides tuition for private music lessons, performance classes, and tutoring as well as musical instruments for children who are in need of financial assistance.

The concert will also feature both Rock Academy youth bands, who frequently play throughout the Asheville area, as well as The River Rats, who took top prize at our Battle of the Bands showcase in June.

We also have a special guest in our audience this year: Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and multi-platinum bassist, Cliff Williams, of AC/DC, who has been a Rock Academy fan for the last year.

All proceeds from the show benefit Give To The Music. “My hope is that someday, no child would be turned away from pursuing their musical dreams because of their inability to obtain instruments and lessons. When you bring music into children's lives, you change the world," Said Anne Coombs, Executive Director of Give To The Music.

For more information on Give To The Music, or the Rock Academy, visit GiveToTheMusic.org or RockAcademyNC.com. The concert will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at The Orange Peel, 101 Biltmore Avenue, Asheville, NC. Doors open at 6:30, show begins at 7. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children under 10 and are available at TheOrangePeel.net and the Orange Peel box office. Tickets for this event are expected to sell out.
