A-B Tech holds May 16 job fair
A-B Tech in collaboration with its Foundation and Alumni Association will host the second annual Job Fair, from 2 to 6 p.m. May 16 in the Coman Gym on the College's Asheville campus. The event is open to current A-B Tech students, alumni, and the public.
The Job Fair will feature representatives from health care, manufacturing, hospitality, management, information technology and retail industries. Job seekers are encouraged to dress professionally and to bring copies of their resume to leave with employers.
"After last year’s successful Job Fair and Reception, the Alumni Association is pleased to provide this wonderful resource to our students, graduates and the community," said Mark Newman, Alumni Relations and Resource Development Coordinator at A-B Tech. "While we have seen some improvement in our local economy, many in our area remain unemployed. The Alumni Association is honored to have the opportunity to showcase available jobs in the community and to help our students, alumni, and residents of Western North Carolina area learn about positive steps they can take toward employment."
Following the Job Fair, the A-B Tech Alumni Association will host its Spring Alumni Reception in Fernihurst from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. This event will enable alumni to reconnect with fellow graduates as well as engage current students, faculty, and friends of the College.
A-B Tech President Dr. Hank Dunn said the job fair serves as another opportunity to provide service to the community. “Our goal at A-B Tech has always been to answer the call to provide quality and innovative job training programs for our students to compete in the local job market,” he said. “We hope our alumni will join us at the reception to reconnect with their alma mater, network with fellow alumni and community leaders as well as learn about new initiatives here at the College.”
