ACS cancer study kick-off will be July 18

The American Cancer Society (ACS) hosting a kick-off event for Haywood County residents interested in participating a nationwide Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). The kick-off will be at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18 on the second floor of the Haywood Regional Fitness Center.

Speakers will include Janie Sinacore-Jaberg, president and CEO of Medwest-Haywood; Dr. Al Mina of Haywood Surgical Associates; Angie Ford, cancer survivor and Johanna Dewees, nurse navigator at Medwest-Haywood.

At the kick-off, residents can enroll to participate in the study set for Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Wednesday, Sept. 18. ACS hopes to recruit 150 local residents.  Cancer survivors interested in sharing their story or anyone interested in honoring a friend or loved one who has battled cancer, is invited to the kick-off.
