Join us for two guided walks with llamas (11:00 AM and 2:00 PM). The walks will be on the Forest Discovery Trail, a moderate, paved trail approximately 2 miles in length. The programs will be led by George Appenzeller and Sarah Meadows, founders of Challenge Adventures, a nonprofit organization experienced in leading hiking and camping adventure programs for youth groups. Since 1989 they have involved over 4,000 young people in educational experiences in the outdoors with llamas. Before each walk they will explain the adaptations llamas have that make them good pack animals, and good trail companions. As the group walks the Discovery Trail, children can take turns leading the llamas. The group will stop and picnic along the trail before heading back.
Participants are encouraged to bring a snack or lunch for the llamas to carry. Iced tea and cups for this picnic in the woods will be provided. Cost for this event is $5 for adults, free for children and pass holders.
