MAGGIE VALLEY — Allan Lloyd Wilde, 86, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at his residence.
A native of Wausau, Wisconsin, he had resided in Haywood County for the past twelve years. He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Rajek; stepfather, Eddie Rajek; and two grandsons, Jeremy Wilde and Dustin Sicking. He was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army/Air Force as well as the U.S. Navy. Allan loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid reader and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and gardening and also enjoyed spending time with his constant companion, Dolly Marie (his little Pekingese).
He is survived by his wife of more than 62 years, Shirley Wilde; five daughters, Shari Pfiefer (Randy) of Loveland, Colorado, Viola Lockwood (Roger), of Sarasota, Florida, Dewetta Sicking (Daniel), of Clayton, Patricia Morris (Ellis) of Maggie Valley, and Bonita Tino (Gary) of Westchester, Ohio; two sons, Allan Wilde (Heidi) of Swansea, Massachusetts, and Richard Wilde, of Palmetto, Florida; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 5202, American Legion Post 47 and U.S. Navy. A time of sharing will be from 2:30 to 4 p.m. prior to the service.
