Altrusa soup, cornbread fundraiser is Jan. 22
The Altrusa Club of Waynesville will be hosting the 16th Annual Soup and Cornbread Benefit Scholarship Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at the First United Methodist Church, 566 S. Haywood St., in Waynesville. The lunch or dinner will include homemade soup (vegetable or potato), fresh cornbread, a beverage and a choice of homemade dessert.
Advance or at the door tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children 12 and under. The meals are available for take-out or eat in. Individuals or businesses may pre-order to-go meals for a scheduled time by faxing in a pre-order form from www.waynesvillealtrusa.org - Soup & Cornbread
Altrusa International of Waynesville is part of an international organization. Founded in 1917, Altrusa is a volunteer service organization of business and professional leaders, dedicated to improving their communities by personal service. Last year, Altrusans proudly gave over a million volunteer hours around the world, including clubs in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, England, Bermuda, Ireland, India, Scotland, New Zealand and Russia.
Since 1991, more than $90,000 in scholarship funds have been raised by the Waynesville Altrusa organization, primarily through the club’s annual “Soup and Cornbread Scholarship fundraiser” held each January in Waynesville, serving 1,000-plus meals for lunch and dinner.
