Alveta M. Fletcher
CANTON — Alveta Medford Fletcher, 89, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at MedWest Haywood.
A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Wilson R. and Dixie Sorrells Medford. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Edith Dotson. Alveta prayed for her family each day and was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church since she was six years old.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, T. P. Fletcher; a daughter, Cathy DeWeese and her husband, Jeffrey, of Asheville; a son, Robert Alan Fletcher and his wife, Diane, of Cary; a sister, Jennie Mae Early and her husband, Hugh, of Clyde; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff King and Bruce Cayton officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Wells Funeral Home of Canton is in charge of arrangements.
