Home is where your story begins...
I am Haywood County native whose family has been in Western North Carolina prior to the Civil War so I am deeply rooted! I have lived in Valle Crusis, NC, Panama City Beach and Vero Beach, Florida, but always came home to the mountains. I'm a graduate of Tuscola High School and Western Carolina University, (suma cum laude, 1997). After college, I worked as the 30th Judicial District Supervisor for Project Challenge, North Carolina, an organization dedicated to helping adjudicated youth become productive members of their community through volunteer service. I was also a Program Director for Big Brothers Big Sisters of WNC.
Real estate was always of great interest to me and I knew the day would come when I would make a career change to become a full time Realtor. That change occurred in 2004, and I've has been very pleased with the challenges and opportunities that being a Realtor provides. Being a Realtor is not so different than the human service work I did previously. It is still a helping profession, listening to other's wants and needs and facilitating the process that allows them to buy or sell their home or land. It is very satisfying to assist others in attaining their dreams.
I enjoy giving back to the community through volunteer service and am active with numerous service projects through the Haywood County Volunteer Center and the Board of Realtors Community Service Committee. I served as the 2015 President of the Haywood County Board of Realtors, hold the ECO, green and SFR designations and was the 2007 and 2015 Realtor of the Year for Haywood County. I serve on the Board of Directors of Project Challenge NC, Habitat for Humanity and am a member of Altrusa International and Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. I am a founder of PlottFest, a heritage festival celebrating mountain music and culture that benefits Head Start of Haywood and Jackson County.
I am married and my husband, Tarver and I enjoy the outdoors through activities such as camping, skiing and rock climbing. I have a special love (obsession might not be too strong a word) of mountain and traditional music and dance. I am fortunate to have the friendship of many local musicians and take every opportunity to attend their performances and jam sessions. Tarver and I have a 6 year old son, Henry. To my delight, he appears to have inherited our love of the outdoors and music. We live on a working mini farm in the Fines Creek Community where we grow and preserve much of our food and care for a brood of assorted livestock.
I would be delighted to earn your business. Experience and a positive attitude have rewards and I'm dedicated to YOUR success.

Reviews for Amy Spivey:
Amy Spivey is truly a treasure. She listed and sold our home in just over two months even though the economy was working against us. We listed with a competitor for two years with no activity. Once listed with Amy and ERA Sunburst Realty, our home sold quickly. Amy presents a delightful attitude. Her knowledge, professionalism and positive approach make her a pleasure to work with. We are extremely luck we found Amy and ERA Sunburst Realty!
