Angie’s Dance Academy is proud to offer a new musical theatre program for the 2013 – 2014 dance season. The program will be lead by Tim Stoeckel whose love for the stage began at age 12. Tim continued his education in theatre at a renowned school, with names that precede Phillip Phillips and Luke Bryant. (Lee County High School). As thespian president of his high school, he starred in roles such as: The Cat in the Hat in; Suessical the Musical and Goat in: The Robber Bridegroom (performed at the Edinburgh fringe festival; Scotland). At Western Carolina University, Tim was accepted into the actor’s conservatory program in his second year and continued his education in various roles. A few of which include: Greg: Reasons to be Pretty. Van: Dog See’s God. Lodovico: Othello Harry the Horse: Guys & Dolls, and many more. He received his fine arts degree with a concentration in acting in 2011. Professionally, Tim has appeared as Troy Bolton in High School Musical. Tim has also appeared in two professional independent films including Strigoii: as the featured vampire, and The Prospect: Isaac (now in post-production).

While this last week was a “shotgun intro” into the program, musical theatre has plenty to offer! The next couple weeks are going to prepare the students for the fall season, which will offer everything from basic acting technique, to professional choreography. Everything that is learned in class will be a combination of factual theatre design to Tim’s own personal philosophies, which he deems appropriate for any age! As an actor still trying to carve his own niche, Tim will continue to work hard and play hard! Come join the Academy and get in gear for a new and innovative way to have fun and perfect our craft, as people, and as performers.

In addition to the FREE class on Tuesday, July 23, the Academy will be offering musical theatre classes on Tuesday afternoons for the rest of the summer!
