The Animal Hospital of Waynesville has been recognized by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) as a Cat Friendly Practice (CFP). AAFP initiated the CFP program to improve the health care and overall well-being of the growing feline population. Currently, more than 86 million cats are loved as pets, compared to 78 million dogs.

A CFP is a program serving cat clinics that is committed to creating a nonstressful environment for cats and their owners. CFP's are designed to make each office visit more pleasant to address the cat's needs; the staff at the practice is more aware of ways they can interact with and handle the cat to ensure that examinations and procedures will be less stressful.

A CFP also strives to help the owner better understand their cats’ needs and learn how to properly care for their feline at home.

“When we  [at The Animal Hospital of Waynesville] heard about AAFP’s Cat Friendly Practice program, we knew it was time to take a fresh look at the practice to determine what could be done to make the veterinary visit more positive for cats and cat owners,” said Dr. Kristen Hammett of The Animal Hospital. “We evaluated every aspect of the practice and its environment from the perspective of the cat. We can proudly say that from the minute they walk through the door, our patients and clients will be part of a welcoming, comfortable experience that will ultimately lead to the improved health of our feline patients.”

The Animal Hospital of Waynesville is a full service animal hospital located on 91 Depot St. in Waynesville. Visit www.animalhosp.com for additional information or call 456-9755 to schedule an appointment.
