Beautiful and Courageous

BETHEL — Anita Wood Brown Cooper, 62, of the Bethel community, was carried by the angels to her Heavenly Father on  Saturday, March 16, 2013, from the Homestead after a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

Anita will always be remembered by her laughter and wonderful sense of humor that would brighten anyone’s day and also her strong will and bravery. She had been employed with Silver Bluff Village until her recent illness in 2012, where she had made many friends. Anita was loved by everyone. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, decorating, shopping for antiques and visiting flea markets. Our precious memories of  Anita will remain in our hearts forever.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Wood; her maternal  grandparents, Walter and Celia Russell; paternal grandparents, Frank and Gertie Wood and her former husband, Jimmy Brown.

Left to cherish her beautiful memories are, a daughter, Stephanie Brown of Canton; a son, Jason Brown of Canton;  her mother and step-father, Ruth W. Caldwell and Marshall Caldwell of Waynesville;  her grandchildren, Drake Milner, Megan Milner, Halle Carey, Faith Brown, Judson Butler, Shakor Brown, Julia Brown and Zade Brown;  a loving sister, Sandra Morgan of Canton ;  a brother, Danny Ray Wood of Canton, her stepmother, Dot Wood of Bethel and also many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her dearly.

Anita’s family deeply wishes to give a heartfelt thank you to Aunt Doris Hall, Aunt Shelby Moore and Anita’s sister, Sandra Morgan, who devotedly  gave their love to Anita and stood by her side throughout her courageous journey.

A celebration of her life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home. The Rev. Charles Dean will be officiating.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
