Antique store robbed again

Sheppard’s Bear Den Antiques on Old Balsam Road was robbed overnight making it the second break-in at the store in the year it’s been open.

“When I came in to open the window behind the counter was busted open,” said owner Karen Sheppard. “They must have crawled through the bars.”

The thief broke a glass display case with rotating trays of jewelry and small items.

Among the $600 worth of missing items so far include a gold mesh dickie, gold mesh purse, several vintage mosaic bracelets, a women’s German necklace watch and a sterling silver charm bracelet with an Aunt Jemima charm.

In February detectives with the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office arrested 16-year-old Gavin Geisler for beating the bars on the front doors of the store, breaking windows and breaking glass out of a jewelry case.
