App State rides wave after upset

Appalachian State continues to feel the positive effects of their upset win against Georgia Southern last weekend.  
After making 43 tackles in four games, the Mountaineers’ linebacker Jeremy Kimbrough has been named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Month for October, the SoCon office announced on Tuesday.
Kimbrough tallied at least nine tackles in all four games in October, helping lead Appalachian State to a 3-1 month. The senior also had an interception that he returned 36 yards in a win over Elon on Oct. 6, made a career-high 15 stops in a loss to No. 8 Wofford on Oct. 20 and recorded career highs with three sacks and 3.5 tackles for loss in a win at Western Carolina on Oct. 27, giving him a total of four stops behind the line of scrimmage on the month.
