Apple Harvest Festival jam packed with fun

Tens of thousands of guests delighted in this year's Apple Harvest Festival in downtown Waynesville. Main Street was packed with people wandering from vendor to vendor, perched on curbs, snacking on delicious festival food and hauling their treasures back to their cars.

All manner of treasures were to be found from handcrafted wooden items for the home to candles, jewelry and knitted goods. Then there was the food, so much good food, most of its centered around apples. Fried apple pies, apple butter, and bags and bags of fresh apples from Barber Orchards.

Judging by the difficulty parking anywhere downtown, the festival was a rollicking success.

There was also a good craft and baked goods sale at the First Presbyterian Church.  All the items were made by members of the congregation.  Proceeds go to support local missions.
