George E. Thompson, Waynesville resident and former pastor of First United Methodist Church in Waynesville, will discuss his new book, God is Not Fair, Thank God!—Biblical Paradox in the A Life and Worship of the Parish. Thompson asserts that when the church grasps for power and control, avoids compassionate and costly ministries among the poor and powerless, and renders primary focus upon gaining heavenly rewards; it rejects its Christ-centered mission.

Saturday, April 12   3:00 pm   Author Event

Tim Jackson, author of Gone Pro: North Carolina, will discuss his detailed and comprehensive look at those UNC athletes who have "gone pro”. Tim lives in Asheville, NC and is editor of the online publication The Asheville Post.

Saturday, April 26   3:00 pm   Author Event

Bart D. Ehrman returns to Blue Ridge Books to discuss his newest book, How Jesus Became God. Ehrman is the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has published extensively in the fields of New Testament and Early Christianity. Written for secular historians of religion and believers alike, How Jesus Became God will engage anyone interested in the historical developments that led to the affirmation at the heart of Christianity: Jesus was, and is, God.  Reserved seating is available with the advanced purchase of the book.
