Arch art in place
A welcome sign that used to hang across Waynesville's Main Street decades ago has been resurrected — in a way. A private fund-raising campaign through the Waynesville Public Art Commission has provided a metal structure replicating the arched entryway. Ted Dake of Moto-Fab in Crabtree fabricated the art piece and it was hung Tuesday, in time for the weekend's Folkmoot festivities that start with a 1 p.m. Friday parade and continue with an all-day festival on Saturday.
The art piece will be formally dedicated at 7 p.m. July 27.
NOTE: This version of the story corrects an earlier one that incorrectly stated the Haywood County Arts Council was responsible for the arch.
