WAYNESVILLE — Archie Glenn Boineau, Jr., 94, formally of Meadow Street, passed away on Friday, Feb. 14, 2014 at Haywood Lodge and Retirement Center.

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Archie Glenn and Lillian Webster Boineau. He was a Turrett Captain First Class U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was employed as a budget planner for the Veterans Administration for 37 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Edna Merritt Boineau; one sister, Mildred Summerrow of Waynesville; nephews, Lawson and David Summerrow and great niece, Jennifer Summerrow; great nephews, Ashley and Kelly Summerrow; Edna’s cousin, Jeanne Pope, her sons, Glenn T. Pope and Charles Pope, Jr. and wife Amanda, and her daughter, Kathy Peterson and husband, Jeff.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014 at First United Methodist Church of Waynesville with the Rev.Sanford L. Giles, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church.  Military rites will follow at the church and inurnment will be at 3 p.m. at Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery in Black Mountain.
