'Arc'toberfest will support those with intellectual, developmental disorders
For a fun evening of music and dancing, join The Arc of Haywood County for the fifth annual “Arc”toberfest from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at the Gateway Club in Waynesville. The $50 per person ticket includes music, dancing and heavy hors d’oeuvres. The event provides The Arc of Haywood funding to support the residential programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
“This year, as in the previous years, we are thrilled to have the band ‘A Social Function’ for the event. The band plays a great variety of dance music," said Rhonda Schandevel, event chair. "Each year there is a mix of guests dressed in Halloween costumes as well as regular street clothes. We just want everyone to come and have a great time.”
Community businesses and organizations can also sponsor the event. For a contribution of $500, the business receives 10 tickets and a reserved table as well as recognition as a sponsor. Contributors can also sponsor the event at $300, $200 and $100 levels and will also receive special recognition. Another option is to sponsor a “cool ghoul” ticket for $30 which will enable one of the 30 Arc group home and community living residents to attend.
“This activity is not just a fundraising event for The Arc," said Schandevel. "It provides a wonderful opportunity for our residents and other individuals with developmental disabilities to interact and be involved with our community."
Proceeds from the event will be used to support the residential programs and services of The Arc of Haywood County, a United Way Agency. For more information about The Arc programs and services, visit www.arcofhaywood.org .
