Early on Oct. 4, a semitrailer pulled through the gates of STAR Ranch.  Roger Powell was delivering a 53’ trailer as a gift to the ranch to store winter hay.

He set it in place near the barn and backed up the driveway.

“Neighbors like this are hard to come by,” said Karen Owens, president of STAR Ranch.  “This is the second trailer they have given us for hay storage.”

ARM Trucking is a family operated business located on Jonathan Creek Road in Waynesville. Amy Powell keeps her ‘brood’ working hard and successfully.

Haywood County is in a drought this year and hay production has been severely hampered. The first cuttings came through, but subsequent cuttings have been slim.

“STAR Ranch is fortunate to have an excellent hay provider out of Tennessee who delivers and fill their trailers for them,” said Owen. “Anyone needing hay this winter can partake in his 280-bale deliveries. He will split the load, as long as he has a full trailer to make the trip.”

Call 400-4940 to make arrangements to be on the list for this winter.
