Art after Dark to be held May 3

The Waynesville Gallery Association presents Art After Dark from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 3. Enjoy a stroll through working studios and galleries on Main Street and Depot Street. Galleries stay open late with an offering of food, wine and live music.  Art After Dark offers an opportunity to meet and speak with various artists, and view live demonstrations. Colorful and festive Art After Dark flags denote participating galleries, such as Cedar Hill Studios, TPennington Art Gallery, Grace Cathey Sculpture Garden and Gallery, Earthworks, Haywood County Arts Council’s Gallery 86, Main Street Artist of Waynesville, Jeweler's Workbench, Twigs and Leaves Gallery, and the Village
Jo Ridge Kelley will be demonstrating in Twigs and Leaves Gallery for Art After Dark. Well known to Waynesville and across the U.S., her work is continually inspired by the offerings of the earth and daily miracles of color and light. Jo’s artwork  exemplifies the gallery’s slogan of “where art dances with nature.” Kelley will return from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 25, for more demonstrations.

Friday evening, as you stroll through the gallery’s 145+ primarily regional artists, enjoy the piano music and delight in savory hors d’oeuvres.  Twigs and Leaves Gallery, 98 N. Under the Sea is a new exhibition featuring underwater photography by Dr. John Highsmith. This new exhibit will be open to the public at Gallery 86 from May 1 to 27. An artist reception will be held at the gallery from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, May 3. Gallery 86 is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, at 86 N. Main St., in Waynesville.
