Art demos in downtown
Teri Siewert, owner of the Mahogany House Art Gallery and Studios, will be demonstrating her encaustic painting from 1 to 5 p.m. March 15 at Gallery 86.
Siewert is one of the artist in the current Local Flavors Show that runs through March 29 at Gallery 86. Encaustic painting is done using a medium comprised of beeswax and damar resin. It is an ancient and extremely archival art form dating back to the first century in Egypt.
N. Chris Amsler, well-known local jewelry artist and metal-smith will be performing a free demonstration from noon to 4 p.m. March 13 at Cedar Hill Studio in downtown Waynesville.
He will be working on spring pieces and will have several floral designs as well as some fun spring pinks and greens in his displayed work. As always, he will be demonstrating various techniques and answering questions about any and all metal related curiosities, pertaining to silver and gold-smithing.
