Art and Photography classes are again being offered by the Inspired Art Ministry, Inc. (Iam) at the First Baptist Church, 100 Main St., Waynesville. ART CLASSES FOR ADULTS:  Drawing classes for beginners through advanced begins Monday, January 14, 1:00-4:00 and meets weekly for 6 weeks.  Tuition is $55.  Materials and how to use them are offered to beginners.  Intermediate through advanced will work with drawing techniques from traditional through progressive.  Painting classes for beginners through advanced begins Tuesday, January 15, 1:00-4:00 and meets weekly for 6 weeks.  Tuition is $55.  Students work in acrylic, oil, watercolor, colored pencil and/or oil pastel.  Space is available for artists looking for studio space in which to work and private lessons are also offered.  These classes are taught by Char Avrunin who has a Bachelors of Visual Arts, Masters of Educational Communications from Georgia State University and studied art in Italy for 3 months.  Char is a nationally collected painter who works on commission and exhibits in Fine Art Shows.  She is a member of the Haywood County Arts Council, Blue Ridge Watermedia Society, and the Fellowship of Christian Portrait Artists.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLASSES FOR ADULTS:  “Taking Control of Your Digital Photography – From Camera to Computer” is taught by master photographer Ed Kelley.  Two classes are offered during this series, both beginning Tuesday, January 22; 1:30-4:00 and 6:30-9:00pm, meeting weekly with 4 classroom sessions and one on-location outing. Tuition is $145.  The classes are geared toward those with DSLR, advanced point & shoot, or mirror less cameras, or any digital camera that has a manual mode or manual override.   Ed is a self-taught digital photographer and artist with much experience in shooting digital, film, graphic design and computers in general.  He is well known for his unparalleled digital images and widely collected.

CHILDREN’S ART CLASSES: Children ages 5-14 are welcome.  Classes begin Tuesday, January 22, 4:30-5:30, and meet weekly for 5 weeks.  Tuition is $75 and includes materials. We are pleased to welcome professional artist, Scottie Harris, as the children’s teacher.  Scottie painted under painting instructors Parl Carlson and Char Avrunin and colored pencils under Mark Menendez; she has been a demonstrator at Quick Draw, sold paintings at Gallery 86 and at four Iam Art Shows/Fundraisers and has had many private commissions. Scottie also has extensive experience working with children.  Classes will focus on drawing from shapes and use color techniques. An outdoor lesson will be included to observe and draw what they see.

Iam tithes to the First Baptist Church on all income in appreciation of their support and use of space.
