Giving new life to a building in Clyde that once housed her grandmother Helen's business for over 53 years, Kimberly Lankford has opened Artisan in the Mountains, 99 Depot St., where the Clyde Trading Post formerly operated.  The newly renovated location offers more than 2,000 square feet of gallery and retail space to showcase local aspiring crafters and artists.  Antiques and collectibles are also welcome.

“We give the crafters and artistic residents of Haywood County the venue to display their works," said Lankford. "Here they are able to strengthen the local economy and small business network by selling their original trade to the community they live in."
Artisan in the Mountains also serves coffee and espresso, locally roasted from Panacea Coffee Co. of Waynesville.

“It is a great way to spend an afternoon enjoying a cup of coffee, while shopping for unique items,” said Lankford.  "Artisan in the Mountains currently has on display attractive handmade jewelry, custom luxury woodwork, intricate handcrafted leather and more."

An open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2. Light refreshments will be provided.
