Asheville Chamber Music Series presents Jasper String Quartet
The fourth concert of the 60th Anniversary Season of the Asheville Chamber Music Series will be presented at 8 p.m. Friday, March 8 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville located at 1 Edwin Place at Charlotte Street.
“The concert will celebrate the return of the Jasper String Quartet to Western North Carolina,” said Polly Feitzinger, ACMS Program Chair. “Many area residents enjoyed hearing them perform last summer while they were quartet-in-residence at the Swanannoa Music Festival — they now have the good fortune to hear this remarkably gifted quartet once again.”
The program will include works by Beethoven: Opus 18, No.4, Kernis: “Sarabande” from Quartet No. 2 and Schubert: Quartet No. 14 in D minor “Death of the Maiden.”
The Jasper String Quartet received the Cleveland Quartet Award to quartets on the way to establishing major careers. Many ACMS subscribers already know they were remarkable after the quartet’s 2011 performances at the Swannanoa Festival.
It is ensemble-in residence at the Oberlin Conservatory and recently completed a two-year residency at the Caramoor Center for the Arts. "Symphony" Magazine featured the Jasper as one of five emerging chamber groups in the next generation of chamber music “stars.”
