Auditions for Haywood's Got Talent held Aug. 24-25
The Haywood Arts Regional Theater is once again presenting a chance for area talent to show take home the gold with the Third Annual “Haywood’s Got Talent” event in September.
HART is offering a $1,000 top prize for the winner. Contestants are not limited to Haywood County, there is no age limit or category restrictions but all contestants must first make it past a screening audition. Everything from musicians to jugglers to dancers, to acrobats are encouraged to come in and audition at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24 and at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25.
Anyone unable to attend auditions may submit a recorded audition via mail to HART at P.O. Box 1024, Waynesville, NC 28786 or email at email@example.com or YouTube prior to auditions.
Those who get past the initial audition will part of a semifinal round of performances at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 6 and 7. Each night will feature different performers selected from the prior auditions.
There will be three guest adjudicators at each level who will narrow the field down. The finals will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 14 and will be presented as one evening featuring the best of the best; those selected out of the semifinal competition.
At the end of the evening at both the semi-final and final rounds the audience will be allowed to cast a vote which will count 25 percent toward the final outcome. The winner selected by the three judges and the audience will be presented with a check for $1,000 and the runners up will received $300 and $200 prizes.
Last year “Haywood’s Got Talent” attracted some of the finest the community has to offer and resulted in sold out performances for those involved. The event was one of HART’s most successful.
The event is being presented as a fundraiser for HART, one of the region’s most active theater companies. HART, located in Waynesville, is now in its 29th season and presents a year round schedule of plays and musicals from its home, the Performing Arts Center at the Shelton House located at 250 Pigeon St. in downtown Waynesville.
The theater’s main auditorium will be the site of the event. Those wishing to audition with special needs should contact HART in advance via email. A piano is available and the theater has a complete sound system but no mics will be set up for auditions.
