Ava Lee Barrett
CANTON — Ava Lee Barrett, 90, died on Monday, Oct. 17, 2016, at The Homestead. Ava was born in Haywood County on May 20, 1926, to the late Cleveland and Lee Wells Chambers. Ava will be remembered for loving to work on the family farm and “giving orders.” Most of all she loved caring for her family.
In addition to her parents, Ava was preceded in death by her first husband, Woodrow Parker; her second husband, Bill Hall; her sister, Annie Mae McCracken; and her brother, Boyd Chambers.
Ava is survived by her sons, Danny and James Barrett; her grandchildren, Brandon Barrett, Brooke Barrett and Britney Kitely; her great-granddaughter, Amayah Barrett; and her close friend and caregiver, Deannie Brooks.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
