Barbara Bates to star in Lee Smith play June 22-23

On June 22-23, “Ivy Rowe,” the play adapted and performed by Barbara Bates Smith from the Lee Smith novel Fair and Tender Ladies, will be presented as a Benefit for Haywood Arts Regional Theatre, Waynesville, on its main stage. Shows will be on Friday, June 22, at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday a matinee at 3 p.m. and an evening show at 7:30.  Musical accompaniment is by Jeff Sebens. 

            Noted for her Off-Broadway performance of “Ivy Rowe,” recounting the passionate life of a spunky mountain woman, Barbara's touring of this show—for more than twenty years—has included the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
