CANTON  — Barbara Jean Putnam Yates Collins,68, of Wells Town Road, passed away into the arms of the angels on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2013, at St. Joseph Campus.

A lifelong native and resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late R. Virgil and Edith Hampton Putnam. Also preceding her in death was a brother, Leroy Hampton, a sister, Betty Sue Cagle and a grandson, Nathan Yates. Barbara was a former employee of Champion International. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family at Lake Douglas. She loved working in her lawn, mowing and caring for her flowers and she also had a deep love for birds. Barbara truly loved her family and her precious memory will be cherished forever.

She is survived by her loving husband, Charles B. Collins, sons, Charles David Yates and his wife, Mary Yates of Simpsonville, South Carolina; Bryan Kevin Yates and his wife, Jean Ann Yates of Clyde; Buddy Dewayne Yates and his wife, Darlene Hullender Yates of Canton; daughters, Traci Yates Rogers and her husband, Timothy Allen Rogers and Natasha Lynn Collins, all of Canton; brothers, R. V. Putnam Jr., of Asheville and Jimmy Dewayne Putnam and his wife, Katrina Putnam of Canton; grandchildren, Sarah Yates, Brooke Mathis, Taylor Yates, Luke Yates and Sidney Yates.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5,  in the chapel of Crawford/Ray Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
