Bats support Dietz's one-hit gem

CANTON — The host Canton Little League 9-10 all-star softball team opened the District 5 East Tournament in dominating fashion, trouncing visiting Transylvania County, 15-6, in a pool game at the International Sports Complex Monday night.
Canton  (1-0) got a superb pitching performance from inside the circle from Amiyah Dietz, who hurled a one-hit, 11 strikeout complete-game gem.
Offensively, Canton’s Jade Warren went 4-for-4 and scored three times, Mckenna Browning had three hits, including a double,  while Beth Curley and Paige Griffith had two hits each.
