Beatrice 'Honey Bee' Haney
Loving Mother, Grandmother
CANTON — Beatrice “Honey Bee” Shetley Haney, 88, of Hidden Valley Circle, passed away Saturday, July 5, 2014.
Mrs. Haney was a native of Cocke County, Tennessee, and had made her home in Haywood County for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Americus Jones Shetley and the late Maude Rowland Shetley. She retired from Champion Finishing in Asheville and had attended All Christian Holiness Church, Laurel Drive, Canton. Beatrice enjoyed square dancing, clogging, fishing and was also a wonderful storyteller. She had a great love for the close-knit family she was a part of and that love will always be cherished.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Ralph P. Haney, who passed away in 1999; two infant children; sisters, Beulah Paige, Aona Shetley and Lois Franklin; and brothers, Carter Shetley, Leo Shetley and Ray Shetley.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Stroupe and her husband, Robert, of Canton; a son, James R. Haney and his wife, Marie, of Kinards, South Carolina; brothers, AJ Shetley Jr., William Shetley and Gene Shetley, all of Union, South Carolina; a sister, Bertie Chapel, of Grand Rapids, Michigan; grandchildren, Lee Stroupe, Jerry Wilburn and his financée, Mica, Joy Stepp and and her husband, Terry, DeAnn Haney, Heath Haney, Louetta Constante and her husband, Shane, David Rhodes and his wife, Melonie, and Jack Rhodes and his wife, Tamey ; a sister-in-law and best friend, Hazel Christopher, of Clyde and 11 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Beatrice’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at All Christian Holiness Church on Laurel Drive. Her daughter, the Rev. Brenda Stroupe, will officiate.
