About 1,700 beef lovers flocked to Tuscola High School Saturday were the Haywood Cattlemen's Association was serving a roast beef dinner and all the trimmings.

Organization members began cooking 1,700 pounds of top round roast Friday night. The double-foil wrapped roasts were finished my mid-afternoon Saturday when members began unwrapping and slicing the succulent meat. Other teams were working on a special barbecue sauce, pinto beans and slicing onions and tomatoes.

Proceeds from the event are used to fund scholarships for students who want to pursue an education in agriculture.
