Behind the scenes after the sawmill fire
The Haywood Community College campus is closed for now as investigators look for clues as to what might have sparked a fire late Monday that destroyed the long-closed sawmill building.
No other structures near the area were damaged. Early Tuesday, small fires were slowly burning amidst logs stored near the former building that housed the sawmill.
Other than administrators, only contract employees and emergency workers are allowed on campus for now.
