Belk store volunteers giving school 'make over'
As part of its 125th anniversary celebration this year, Belk is showing its continued gratitude and commitment to the Southern communities it serves by enlisting store volunteers to do makeovers in local schools over a 125 day period from through July 12.
Belk of Waynesville Commons will be conducting its service project from
noon to 2 p.m. April 10, at Hazelwood Elelmentary School, inWaynesville,
Approximately 10 volunteers will be doing the following activities to make over the school — constructing a picnic table, creating educational wall hangings, and assembling and painting bookshelves,
“We’re thrilled to have volunteer activities scheduled in every Belk market so that all of our associates will have the opportunity to participate,” said Jessica Graham, Belk vice president of communications and community relations. “Our associates are so passionate about the communities they live and work in, so we knew that a key component of our anniversary celebration would include giving back.”
Belk is working In partnership with Points of Light, the world’s largest organization devoted to volunteer service, which will help mobilize and coordinate Belk’s efforts regionwide ( Visit www.pointsoflight.org). Locally, Hands On Asheville-Buncombe, an affiliate of HandsOn Network/Points of Light, is proud to partner with local Belk stores to create and manage these meaningful volunteer projects at local elementary schools.
