Benefit art sale to be May 31 at Lake Junaluska

May 15, 2013

There will be an original art sale and silent auction benefit from 3  to 8 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the Lambuth Inn, Room 100, at Lake Junaluska.
The sale includes 85 to 100 pieces of original art (acrylic and mixed media paintings) available at 75 percent off gallery price.  Select works will be available by silent auction as well.

Part of the proceeds benefit Friends of the Smokies and also Friends of the Lake (Junaluska). The art is being provided for the event by local artists from two galleries in North Carolina and Tennessee.
Friends of the Smokies assists the National Park Service in its mission to preserve and protect Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Support from those who care about the Smokies helps the Park to study, protect, and restore our natural heritage; expand programs that benefit schoolchildren in surrounding communities; restore and share the park's rich cultural history; improve opportunities for safe recreation in the backcountry; and act on other timely opportunities.  For more information about the work supported through donations and how to make a donation or purchase a bear license plate, visit friendsofthesmokies.org or call 452-0720.
Friends of the Lake is a nonprofit organization to help support Lake Junaluska, the annual maintenance for the recreation path and everything else that the lake offers for free.  The primary fundraisers are the Friends of the Lake 5K, held the Saturday before Easter, and a golf tournament in the summer.  Membership is $25. For more information, call 454-6680 or visit www.lakejunaluska.com.
