LAKE CITY, FLORIDA — Mrs. Bessie Rumph Hiers Lux, 92, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Carnot S. and Elizabeth B. Rumph. She was preceded in death by her first husband, J.W. Hiers, and her second husband, Thomas Lux; sisters, Doris, Sybl and Marian; brothers, Earl, Albert and Leo Rumph; and nephew, James A. Rumph.
She is survived by her brother, J. Quinton Rumph and sister-in-law, Pauline Rumph; five nieces, Barbara Seigel, Jean Owen, Loretta Leary, Elizabeth Ulrich and Jan Welch; and a nephew, Don Rumph; four great-nephews; two great-nieces; and one great-great-niece.
Mrs. Lux graduated from Florida State College for Women — now FSU — and was a regional director for the Florida Department of Education. After her retirement, she enjoyed golf and bridge. She attended Tustenuggee Methodist Church in Fort White, Florida, and First Methodist Church in Waynesville.
Funeral services were held in Lake City, Florida, with burial at Tustenuggee Methodist Church Cemetary.
