The Bethel Rural Community Organization will feature the Buy Haywood Market Development Project and a study of the Forest Heritage Scenic Byway at the bi-monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 9. The meeting will be held at the historic Bethel Presbyterian Church on Sonoma Road.
Tina Masciarelli, project coordinator for Buy Haywood, will highlight the latest efforts to support farmers in Bethel and elsewhere in Haywood County by promoting high-quality farm products to community-minded consumers.
Jenn Wood with Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy will seek input on a new conservation assessment of the Forest Heritage Scenic Byway that runs through Bethel on Highways 276 and 215. The study is intended to help guide future voluntary conservation efforts in the area and focuses on the byway’s scenic views, rural character and economic impact. Wood will circulate a brief questionnaire for community members to share their opinions on the byway and local conservation efforts.
