Classmates from Bethel High School’s class of 1964 celebrated a 50-year graduation reunion Saturday, May 31, at the Lake Logan Episcopal Center.  Thirty-six classmates who started school together in 1952 attended, along with eight teachers and 27 spouses and guests.

Judy Grogan Heatherly and Mary Grogan Wells welcomed the group.  As emcee, the Rev. J.D. Grant entertained attendees with humorous recollections. Darla Smith Mathis read her poignant remembrances of the '60s era.  Richard and Evelyn McNeil Coltman presented a humorous video production that paired classmate pictures from several years of annuals with 75 popular songs of the era. Catherine Mashburn Chambers and several ladies of the class decorated with white lilies and candles and also distributed memorabilia booklets to each class member. Evelyn McNeil Coltman and Pam Satterfield Jolly distributed door prizes, including hand-made clocks and a dulcimer made by Eugene Church.

Berry Rigdon was charged with taking pictures of all classmates and was assisted by Coy Rigdon and Madeline Ottinger.

Too bad the headline in today's paper, 7-21-14, said this was the "59th reunion."  Pretty good trick for a class graduating 50 years ago!

That IS a neat trick, isn't it? Sorry about that!
