LAKE JUNALUSKA — Betty Jo Crocker, 85, of Lake Junaluska, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 at Autumn Care Nursing Home.  She was born in Clayton on Oct. 27, 1928.

Devotion to family, church and the Lake Junaluska Assembly had filled her life and been at the heart of her service to so many. She was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church. In 2011, she was the recipient of the Chief Junaluskan Award for her long and faithful service to the Lake Junaluska Assembly.  When she retired in 1999, after 30 years of service to Lake Junaluska Assembly, she purchased a condo in the new development by the dam where she could enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the Assembly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Bessie Leatherwood Crocker. Following the early death of her parents, she was raised by her aunt, Elizabeth Leatherwood.

She is survived by her sisters, Mary Sue Crocker, Anna Jean Angel, and Braxton Buchanan; brother, Harry Crocker; nephew, David Angel; and a niece, Jeree Current.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Garrett Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church building fund, 566 S. Haywood Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
