CANTON  — Betty McElrath Baker, 84, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at her residence.

A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Hazel Pless McElrath.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bud” Vinson Baker; an infant great-grandson, Seth Dillon Sanford; and a son-in-law, Charles Lee Mehaffey.  Betty was a member of West Canton Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Darlene Sanford, and her husband, Woody, of Canton, Dianne Jarjoura,  and her husband, John, of Hampton, Virginia, and Robyn Burnette, and her husband, Danny, of Canton; one sister, Pat Pace, of Canton; six grandchildren; three great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
