In Loving Memory
CANTON — Betty Owen, 83, of Canton, NC, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Betty was born on Aug. 13, 1933 to the late Jennings Rogers and Grace Rogers Simpkins. She was also predeceased by a brother, Ed Rogers.
Betty was known for her feisty, yet good sense of humor. She always knew the right thing to say (even if it was mildly inappropriate) and had an unfailing ability to make us laugh. She leaves us rich in memories.
We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Betty during her 83 years, among them: No matter how nicely you are dressed, people will judge you on your shoes – ALWAYS wear good shoes.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 43 years, James L. Owen Jr., Patricia (Michael) Wilson, Ronald (Nancy) Simpkins, and the loves of her life, granddaughters Aubrey (Terry) Barnard and Leah Wilson. While our hearts are breaking, we find comfort in the verse John 16:22 “So you have sorrow now, but I will see you again; then you will rejoice, and no one can rob you of that joy.”
In honor of Betty's request, there will be no funeral services.
The family would like to thank Carl White R.N. At Haywood Regional Medical Center, the employees at Homestead and Silver Bluff for their love and care to not only Betty, but to us as well, during her final days.
Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service is honored to be caring for the Owen family and words of comfort may be shared at www.crawfordray.com.
