Bike Plan meetings scheduledCommunity-driven regional bicycle planning effort proceeds
The Blue Ridge Bike Plan is underway and we are seeking input from community members to help guide the process. The meeting in Haywood is from 5 to 7 p.m. May 31 at the Waynesville Recreation Center.
All are invited to the meeting where they can enter to win a gift certificate to a local bicycle shop. Refreshments will be provided.
The purpose of the meetings is to get feedback from residents about bicycling safety, desired routes, challenging spots, and what types of infrastructure are desired in the community.
A steering committee has been collaborating with project staff since November 2011 to develop goals, recommendations, and initial findings pertaining to a regional bicycling network.
Information about the proposed regional bicycle network, a set of draft goals and objectives, and survey results will be available for participants to comment on. Committee members from throughout the region, as well as project staff, will be available to answer questions and gather feedback from the public. The executive and steering committees have been collaborating since November 2011 to develop goals, recommendations, and initial findings focused on a regional bicycling network.
