Daydreamz project and Community Gardeners are looking for local youth and adults to create or decorate birdhouses for a silent auction to benefit the Green Thumb Community Garden. The Birdhouse Bash is the second annual celebration of spring and creativity hosted by the Green Thumb Community Garden and Daydreamz project. The gardeners wish to invite the community, as well as the birds, to visit the garden — now in its fifth season, behind the Old Armory on Boundary Street in Frog Level, Waynesville.

Birdhouse submissions must be made of weather resistant, nontoxic permanent materials; no cardboard, fiberboard, glue, hot glue, toxic paints or finishes are allowed. Folk art style is welcome and encouraged. Birdhouses can be delivered to the Historic Farmers Market information booth on Saturday or Wednesday, through May 7.  For weekday drop-offs, deliver birdhouse creations to the reception person at the Old Armory on Boundary Street of Waynesville by Friday, May 9.

Silent bidding will take place at the Daydreamz booth at the Armory from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 11, during the Whole Bloomin’ Thing Festival in Frog Level. The winning bids will be selected at 2:30 p.m., when donations will be accepted and birdhouses may be taken to their new home or garden.
