Black Bears crush Blue Devils

BREVARD — The swag is back.
That’s the way the Pisgah varsity football team played like after the Black Bears crushed Brevard, 56-14, in the regular-season finale at Memorial Stadium Friday night.
The Black Bears improved to 5-6 overall and 4-3 in the WNC Athletic Conference, while the Blue Devils fell to 0-11 and 0-7 in the conference. The loss also secured for the first time-ever the storied Brevard football program finished winless for a season.
Postseason-bound Pisgah will host the Smoky Mountain Mustangs (4-6) in the first round of the NCHSAA Class 2-AA West playoffs Friday, Nov. 2 at Memorial Stadium in Canton.
Against Brevard in the first half, Pisgah’s offense scored six times and its defense once to take a 49-14 halftime lead.
