Black Bears drop opener

SKYLAND — Coming off its worst season in 11 years, an abundance of questions have engulfed the Pisgah varsity football team’s defensive unit as it entered the 2012 opener at T.C. Roberson.
However, the defense did “cowboy up” and answered many of the questions with a vastly improved performance against the Rams. But Pisgah Head Coach David Pressley now faces issues to be resolved and cleaned up with the offense that sputtered throughout four quarters, turned the ball over four times in the first half and committed 10 penalties (65 yards) in a one-sided 31-7 non-conference loss at T.C. Roberson Friday night.
The Black Bears (0-1) travel to Enka this Friday night (Aug. 24) for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The Jets are 0-1 after losing at Sullivan (Tenn.) South High School, 42-28.
