Pisgah advances to Class 3-A second round match at North Gaston

BOILING SPRINGS — The Pisgah varsity volleyball team advanced to the second round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 3-A playoff after defeating host Shelby Crest, 3-0 (25-7, 25-10, 25-8), Saturday afternoon.
Pisgah improved to 18-4 overall and played at North Gaston (18-6) Tuesday night. At press time, no results were available. Check out The Mountaineer website on Wednesday for results and Friday’s sports section for the complete story.
Leading the Black Bears past the Chargers were Mariah Lewis  (1 ace, 10 kills, 7 blocks, 1 assist, 1 dig), Brooklyn Allen (10 kills, 2 blocks, 1 assist, 6 digs), Montana Moore (1 ace, 3 kills, 1 block, 1 assist, 5 digs), Sheridan Pressley (6 aces, 2 kills, 23 assists, 7 digs), Amber Cochran (1 ace, 1 kill, 1 assist, 6 digs), Shelby Tomassi (2 kills, 4 blocks), Emily Rhea (4 blocks, 2 digs) and Callie Kuykendall (3 aces, 3 digs).
